    Edgecombe County Veterans Military Museum

    Located on Church Street in downtown Tarboro, the museum honors the veterans who have served in the nation's wars from Edgecombe County. There are artifacts and pictures and descriptions of these heroes from Edgecombe who are cherished in memory. Visitors are welcome from 10am to 4pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday

    Belhaven Memorial Museum

    Located in the Old Town Hall building, the Belhaven Memorial Museum features the personal collection of Eva Blount Way, which includes a collection of buttons, coins, early American kitchenware, furniture, old farm tools, Civil War guns and World War helmets. Other items in the museum include rocks and stones from Will Roger's stable and the Wall of Jericho, preserved animals and two fleas dressed in formal wedding clothes. The museum is open from 1pm to 5pm daily, except for Wednesdays. Admission is free, but donations are welcome.

    Attmore-Oliver House Museum
    Built in 1790 by Samuel Chapman, this house is home to rooms of Civil War memorabilia. The museum is located in New Bern, one of North Carolina's oldest towns, and one of the most central for the confederates during the Civil War. Guided tours occur on Friday and Saturday afternoons, as well as Haunted Evening Historical Drama performances offered on Saturday nights.

    St. James Place
    Located in a restored Baptist church, this museum houses various folk art, quilts, furniture, and pottery. Visitors can get a true taste of Eastern North Carolina's history through these artifacts and the written explanations of how, when, and why they were used.

    North Carolina Estuarium

    The N.C. Estuarium tells the story of North Carolina's many coastal rivers and sounds. There are more than 200 displays in the museum, including living aquariums, environmental artworks and historic artifacts from the region.

    Aurora Fossil Museum

    Founded in 1976, this non-profit museum is dedicated to educating people, young and old, about fossils and the natural world surrounding them. They work to accomplish this task through exhibits, outreach programs and field studies. The museum is open Monday through Saturday 9am to 4:30pm, and Sunday 12:30-4:30pm.
